Arguably one of the most iconic drinks associated with Ireland, Irish whiskey is currently undergoing a huge renaissance period both at home and abroad. The Irish Whiskey Museum, the first place to learn about everything Uisce beatha is proud to present a series of Whiskey and Cheese Pairing Events this October as part of Fáilte Ireland’s ‘Taste the Island’ campaign.
Similar to the more traditional wine and cheese pairings, whiskey includes a range of flavour profiles from sweet to smokey that pair so well with the creamy consistency of cheese to create the ultimate palate cleansing experience. The Irish Whiskey Museum has worked closely with four famous whiskey brands from each corner of the island of Ireland to pair iconic whiskeys with a complementing cheese from the same region.
Enjoy 4 x 25ml whiskey tastings from Bushmills, Dingle, Glendalough and Connemara and an assortment of four cheeses during a 2-hour interactive experience with one of the Museum’s trained tour guides. Learn about the history of Irish whiskey, how to differentiate your pot stills from your single malts and what flavour profiles suit the distinct flavours of Irish artisan cheese. Each Whiskey & Cheese Pairing evening will include a special guest talk from one of the whiskey distilleries featured in the session.
Perfect for whiskey novices and experts alike, this is a great chance to experience the wide variety of the whiskey and cheese that the entire island of Ireland has to offer.
The ‘Four Corners of Ireland: Whiskey & Cheese Pairing Evenings’ will run three consecutive Fridays, 8-10pm on the 11th, 18th and 25th October.
The series is also in conjunction with The Festival of Irish Whiskey (Irish Whiskey Association 10-13 October) and DublinTown Food & Drink Festival (14-20 October). Tickets are €45* and are available on Eventbrite, Facebook and at
