Teeling Whiskey Distillery have released their first ever peated single malt, to be distilled in the Newmarket distillery in Dublin 8. This is the first peated single malt to be distilled in Dublin in modern times and may be the first commercially released, peated single malt to ever be released in the nations captial.
The Blackpitts, where this expression takes its name, is a historic area located just behind the Teeling distillery in Dublin 8. Steeped in manufacturing tradition and formerly home to an abundance of malting houses, it provides the inspiration for the Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt.
Years ago at the launch of the Teeling Stout collaboration launch with Galway Bay Brewery, I was lucky enough to taste the wash from one of their first ever runs of peated malt in the distillery and, I for one, am delighted to see this new product come full circle to make history as Dublin’s first peated single malt whiskey, and to continue to drive innovation in the incredible Teeling Whiskey portfolio.
This product was triple distilled and matured in ex-bourbon & ex-sauternes French wine casks, which sounds like an amazing combination with the peated spirit. It is non-chill filtered and
