It was announced to staff at the Tullamore D.E.W. visitors centre, in Bury Quay in Tullamore, last night, that the current visitors centre in Tullamore Town is to be closed.
The building, which is leased by Tullamore D.E.W.’s parent company, William Grant & Sons, by Offaly County Council has been the home to the iconic Irish whiskey brand for a number of years. William Grant and Sons have invested significant sums of money to overhall this space into a modern and welcoming visitors centre, while retaining its historic charm.
Tullamore Distillery have since announced that they will be working to move the visitors experience from Tullamore Town Centre, to the distillery itself, which is situated at the South end of the town of Tullamore.
The team at Tullamore Distillery have informed the public that they are in the process of creating a “rich and immersive Tullamore D.E.W. Experience at the Distillery”, which they aim to open in Summer 2021.
We wish the whole Tullamore team the best in this transition and we very much look forward to immersing ourselves in the new visitors experience in 2021.
Got to admit that the first reaction I had was that people were going to lose their jobs! I’m happy to see that it’s actually just a change of location , I’m sure I’ll make the trip down to the new visitors centre when the Covid is finally gone.
