2020 was a first for the World Whiskies Awards which were held behind closed doors today, due to concerns over the COVID-19.
The team at Paragraph Publishing, who run the awards, are hoping to re-instate the World Whiskies Awards dinner later in the year to celebrate those who picked up awards at today’s announcement.
This digital awards ceremony was the culmination of the World Whiskies Awards 2020, which pitted the best of each global category against each other in blind taste testing, to crown the ‘World’s Best’.
The winners that follow are the World’s Best in their category and will be followed by the World’s Best Irish entrant for that category also. E.g. World’s Best Single Malt, followed by World’s Best Irish Single Malt. If the category is not followed by an Irish equivalence, then Irish whiskeys could not enter that category.
